Why Choose Waggy's for Your 4-Legged Family Member? Frequently Asked Questions
How do I know I can trust your sitters? Are they insured and bonded?
Every sitter that works for Waggy's is interviewed and has to go through a back ground check. We know their history and make sure that they have experience pet sitting animals in the past. They are also insured and bonded under the Waggy's umbrella insurance policy.
Most of our sitters have been with us for years and have a large following of regular customers that come back time and time again.
Rest assured - We do all the background work for you so you don't have to! At Waggy's, our goal is to give you peace of mind knowing you are leaving your dog with the most qualified and vetted dog sitters in the Sacramento area.
I'm afraid my 5 lb. toy poodle will get hurt if she's around big dogs. Do you have a sitter that only watches small dogs?
Yes, we have 3 - Two in El Dorado Hills and one in Folsom. We learned very early on that owners with small dogs were hesitant to board them with the big dogs. Of course, there are small dogs that will give the big dogs a run for their money!
Are the other dogs staying with my sitter friendly?
Yes. If your dog displays any sort of aggression to people or dogs, Waggy's is not the place for them. They need to be able to get along well with all dogs and be very well socialized.
Will my dog get any exercise while staying at Waggy's private dog boarding?
Waggy's does not believe in fenced-in cages and believes in CARING AND FUN. Your dog will not only have exercise, but will have the opportunity to go on walks, visit dog parks, and have fun play time.
How do I choose which sitter to leave my dog with? What if it doesn't work out?
We will personally work with you and discuss your pet's personality, size and temperament to choose the best sitter to suit your pet's needs. We want you to feel perfectly comfortable leaving your dog with our sitters, and if for some reason the dogs don't get along, you are free to meet another sitter. Consultations are always free!
How many dogs are at a sitter’s home at a time?
Since we board out of our homes, it is up to the sitter to determine how many dogs they will board. When you first call Waggy’s, we will decide which environment is best for your dog. We realize that some dogs like to have a more playful group and others enjoy a quieter atmosphere.
My dog is on medication. Can your sitters assure me that he'll get his medication daily?
Yes, we often get pets that take daily medications and it's not a problem. We do provide insulin shots, however not all sitters can accommodate this request. We will match you with a sitter that can fit your needs.
Does my dog need to be vaccinated?
Yes. All dogs need to be current on their vaccinations, certifiable by a veterinarian.
My dog suffers from separation anxiety. Do your sitters have experience with this problem?
Yes, they do. Many dogs suffer from separation anxiety in varying degrees. We find that when they are around other dogs and a sitter during their stay, it alleviates most of their fears. Communicating your pet's individual needs to our sitters will help us to properly care for them. However, for severe cases and if you're dog needs 24 hour care at your home, we can recommend excellent house sitters for you.
My dog is a member of our family and we miss him when we're away. Can we call or text to get a status report from the sitter?
Yes, of course. We know that it's stressful leaving your pet for the first time and want you to feel free to call your sitter anytime. It's important for us to know that you feel comfortable being away from them. If you left your sitter's number at home, you can always call our main number - 916-220-0134 for assistance.
Do you board cats?
Yes, we do have a sitter that will board cats depending on availability.
What do I need to bring when I drop off my pet?
Please bring a leash and dog food. We also encourage you to bring anything that will help make your dog's stay more enjoyable, including a crate (if they use one), his/her special bed, special treats/toys. We do discourage rawhide bones since dogs tend to be territorial - and we want everyone to play nice.
Where will my dog sleep when he/she stay's at Waggy's private dog boarding?
Your dog is part our family and can sleep wherever he or she feels comfortable. Some of our clients prefer to bring their own crates/doggie beds.
